Keynote Speaker Tony TomanekWoodstock vs. Xbox: Understanding Generational Differences and Safety

There is no question that today’s electric utility industry is composed of a workforce facing an unprecedented transition. As older, long-term managers retire in large numbers, younger employees are coming on board. A big question being asked within the industry – one in which safety is of paramount importance – is, how do you establish strong communication and bridge generational gaps among such a diverse group of individuals?

In his keynote address, Tony Tomanek, a senior training consultant with Employers Resource Council (ERC), will provide iP Safety Conference & Expo attendees with straightforward strategies to bridge the chasm of differences between workers of different generations. Tomanek has spent more than 25 years working with service, health care, manufacturing and government agencies as a trainer and facilitator. He is a founding partner of The Capstone Group, the customized training and development arm of ERC. Through his work at Capstone, Tomanek has built a reputation for delivering top-quality training services across the country. His unique background in front-line supervision has provided him invaluable experience in understanding how people at all organizational levels relate to issues integral to organizational change. Tomanek began his training career at USG Interiors, a Fortune 250 manufacturing company, where he spearheaded employee training at 18 U.S. locations while implementing USG’s quality improvement process.
